Members at ICME-12<\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"jet-tabs__content-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"jet-tabs-content-3471\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"1\" primary schools<\/span><\/div><div class=\"maincontentpage\"><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">These workshops were held with the help of some experts of elementary education and Isfahan Mathematics Teachers\u2019 Society, to introduce the aims and concepts of mathematical education in primary schools to the teachers.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Four Courses of these workshops have been held till now and 130 teachers and students of Tarbiat Moaalem College have taken part in them.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Similar workshops were held in other cities such as Kashan and Najafabad for 60 teachers in summer 2005.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">This program will continue for all the teachers of primary schools and on other important issues.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">A scientific report of these workshops was given in the 8th mathematical education conference.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><div class=\"titlepage\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Statistics and Modeling<\/span><\/div><div class=\"maincontentpage\"><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">These workshops were held in 2002 in collaboration with Iranian Statistical Society and Isfahan Mathematics Teachers\u2019 Society, in which teachers were acquainted with statistical softwares and group study as well as discussion about the concepts of curriculum text books on statistics and modeling.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Because of success of these workshops and encouragement of Ministry of Science, Research &amp; Technology and Ministry of Education, similar workshops were held in collaboration with Iranian Statistical Society and Teachers\u2019 Society in summer 2005 in some provinces such as Isfahan, Chahar Mahal-o-Bakhtiari, Mazandaran, East Azarbayjan, Khorasan Razavi and Ghazvin.<\/span><\/p><hr \/><div class=\"titlepage\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">ICT<\/span><\/div><div class=\"maincontentpage\"><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">To acquaint mathematics teachers in secondary and high schools in Isfahan with ICT, IMH has had some workshops on Windows, Word, Introduction to Internet and also Maple and Minitab with the help of Isfahan Mathematics Teachers\u2019 Society.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Around 700 teachers have been acquainted with these programs till now.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"jet-tabs-content-3472\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-template-id=\"false\"><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">IMH supports teachers&#8217; research groups for dealing with challenges in mathematical training and encouragement of group researches; for this reason, IMH has done researches in the subjects below:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Geometry<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Examination<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; University Entrance Exams<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Challenges of Teaching Discrete Mathematics<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; The Effect of the Attitudes of School Principles on Mathematics Education<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Reasons and Concepts of Teaching Mathematics in Primary Schools<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Using Information Technology in Education and Research<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The advantages of these researches have been explored in different seminars and conferences.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Some groups have joint research activities in the subjects bellow:<\/span><\/p><ul><li>\u00a0<\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Standards of Teaching Mathematics in Primary Schools<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Using CABRI in Teaching Geometry.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Interaction of Mathematical Education and School Principals<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Investigation into Islamic Mathematics<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">&#8211; Recognition of Handwritten Books on Islamic Mathematics and Astronomy in Isfahan.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div id=\"jet-tabs-content-3473\" class=\"jet-tabs__content \" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-template-id=\"false\"><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">IMH Members at ICME-12<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Cooperation of IMH and ICMI goes back to 1988 when Ali Rejali, one of the founders of IMH participated at ICME-16 as a guest. After that, Iran mathematics houses were introduced in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amt.edu.au\/icmis16dd.html\">16th ICMI study<\/a>, Ali Rejali became the Iran representative at ICMI and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mathunion.org\/fileadmin\/ICMI\/files\/Digital_Library\/icmi-study-17\/ICMI17proceedingsPart2.pdf\">Emran Behrooz, member of IMH, in 17th ICMI study<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In 2012, three members of IMH (Ali Rejali, Narges Assarzadegan and Leily Hatamzadeh) participated at ICME-12.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Ali Rejali, Iran representative at ICMI, Vice President of the WFNMC was the Co-Chair of TSG 34 either. And Zahra Gooya, faculty member of Mathematics Department of Shahid Beheshti University, became the member of Executive Committee of ICMI by his recommendation. Also, Yahya Tabesh, who named for the 2012 Erdos Award by Ali Rejali&#8217;s recommendation, received his award from Bill Barton, Maria De Losado and Ali Rejali at ICME-12.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Mathematics teacher and researcher, the member of IMH,\u00a0Narges Assarzadegan\u00a0was also the member of Organising Team of DG 6 ( Uses of History of Mathematics in School (pupils aged 6 &#8211; 13)) at ICME-12. She was invited to this group because of her articles and works on tiling and geometry and recreational mathematics in middle and secondary schools and has delivered workshops on these topics for both students and teachers.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Mrs. Narges Assarzadegan is a mathematics teacher and researcher on mathematics history. She also works on tiling and geometry and recreational mathematics in middle and secondary schools and has delivered workshops on these topics for both students and teachers.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Mrs. Assarzadegan is one of the members of Organising Team of Discussion Group on Uses of History of Mathematics in School of ICME-12.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The International Study Group on the Relations Between the History and Pedagogy of Mathematics (HPM Group) has been active since 1976. In addition to numerous publications and participation in several conferences (e.g., European Summer University; CERME), the HPM Group hosts an ICME satellite meeting every four years. Although a number of papers resulting from these conferences concerns the inclusion of history in primary and secondary school (pupils aged 6 \u2013 16), the result is still that there are not many resources available for teachers who teach mathematics to students aged 6 \u2013 13.
