With the cooperation of Iranian Statistics Society and Educational and Scientific Association of Isfahan Mathematics Teachers, Isfahan Mathematics House (IMH) organized its second competition in statistics for high school students around Isfahan province. This is a team competition, each team consisting of three members, open to all high school students. The contest took place in Nov 15 2007 .This challenge is 2 hours long and consists of two parts; in the first part the students try to answer 2 questions on statistics and probability out of 4; in the second part each team works on a project on statistics and then presents a report on what they got through.
Within the framework of cooperation agreement between Isfahan Mathematics House and Freudenthal Institute in Utrecht, the questions of this competition are to be translated and submitted to the students in the Netherlands to take part in this challenge.
The First Statistics Competition in Isfahan
Isfahan Mathematics House (IMH) organized the first competition in statistics in the country. This competition was held with the collaboration of Iranian Statistics Society and Educational and Scientific Association of Isfahan Mathematics Teachers. The purpose of this activity is to increase the students’ basic knowledge in statistics and acquaint them with some of its applications. This challenge took place in Nov 2006 and the participants, who were high school students around Isfahan province, competed in teams of three members, 98 teams of girls and 41 teams of boys.
